Calculate the Real Auto Loan Amount

Vehicle price alone is not the financed amount. Down payment, trade equity, cash rebates, taxes, title charges and dealer fees can materially change both the amount borrowed and cash needed upfront.

Compare Auto Loan Terms

The built-in 36, 48, 60, 72 and 84 month comparison shows the payment and total interest for the same financed amount. It makes the tradeoff between lower monthly payments and higher borrowing cost visible.

Taxes and Fees

Choose whether taxes and fees are financed or paid upfront. Because tax rules differ by location and may treat trade-ins or rebates differently, the calculator uses the rate and charges you enter.

Review the Amortization

The schedule tracks how each payment reduces principal and pays interest. Use it to understand the remaining balance, especially when considering a long term or a future trade-in.

Auto Loan Calculator FAQ

How is the financed amount calculated?

The model starts with vehicle price, subtracts down payment, positive trade equity and rebates, then adds negative trade equity. Taxes and fees are added if you choose to finance them.

Can I include sales tax in the loan?

Yes. Choose Include in loan to finance entered taxes and fees, or Pay upfront to add them to cash required at purchase.

How does a trade-in with money owed work?

Trade value reduces the amount needed, while the outstanding trade balance is added back. This models positive or negative trade equity before taxes and lender-specific rules.

Why do longer auto loans cost more?

A longer term can reduce each payment but leaves principal outstanding for longer, normally increasing total interest.

Does CalcsBay calculate local vehicle tax?

No. Enter the sales-tax rate that applies. Jurisdiction rules for trade-ins, rebates and fees vary and are not inferred.

Can I download the calculation?

Yes. The tool provides print and a professional PDF summary with results and amortization.
