Quick guide
How to create a QR code
1. Choose the content
Select URL, text, Wi-Fi, contact details, a message or a location and complete the relevant fields.
2. Customize safely
Choose colors, style and error correction. Keep strong contrast and use a standard quiet zone around the code.
3. Test and download
Scan the live preview, then download PNG for everyday use or SVG for scalable print and design work.
What is a QR code?
A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores text directly in a square pattern. A compatible camera or scanner reads that pattern and interprets it as a web address, message, contact, Wi-Fi configuration or another supported data format.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
A static QR code contains its final destination or data inside the pattern. It does not need a CalcsBay account or redirect service and does not expire. A dynamic QR code normally points through a hosted redirect that can be changed later, which requires an online service and is not offered by this tool.
How to create a URL QR code
Choose URL, enter a complete address beginning with https://, and scan the preview before downloading. The final link is stored directly in the code, so changing the website address later requires generating a new QR code.
How to create a Wi-Fi QR code
Choose Wi-Fi and enter the exact network name, security type and password. Many phones can use the scanned data to offer a network connection. Wi-Fi passwords are handled only in the current browser session and are masked in the human-readable preview.
How to create a vCard contact QR code
Choose Contact and add the details you want to share. The generator creates a vCard 3.0 payload that compatible devices can open as a contact. Include only information you are comfortable distributing publicly.
How to create a WhatsApp QR code
Choose WhatsApp, enter the international number including country code and optionally add a pre-filled message. The QR code stores a standard wa.me link that opens a conversation when WhatsApp is installed or available.
QR code sizes and image quality
Higher-resolution PNG files are useful when the code will occupy more pixels in a document or image. SVG is usually best for professional print because the QR modules remain vector shapes. Never stretch the artwork disproportionately, crop its quiet zone or save it as a heavily compressed image.
Error correction levels explained
QR error correction can reconstruct some missing or damaged modules. L has the lowest redundancy and smallest pattern, while M, Q and H progressively increase recovery capacity and density. High correction is automatically used with logos because the center artwork covers part of the code.
Best practices for reliable scanning
Use a dark foreground and light background, preserve a clear quiet zone, print at sufficient size and avoid reflective or uneven surfaces. Keep logos small and centered. Test the exact final artwork on multiple phones at the intended distance before mass printing.
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes do not contain an expiration timer and CalcsBay does not route scans through a tracking service. The encoded destination can still stop working if its domain expires, a page is deleted, a phone number changes or an external platform removes the linked content.
QR Code Generator FAQ
Is this QR code generator free?
Yes. CalcsBay creates static QR codes for free with no account, paywall, watermark, scan limit or hidden premium download.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The encoded pattern in a static QR code does not expire. However, a website, file or online service linked by the code can later be changed, moved or removed by its owner.
Are scans limited?
No. A static QR code stores its content directly in the pattern, so CalcsBay does not meter or limit scans.
Is my data private?
The QR content and artwork are generated in your browser. CalcsBay does not intentionally upload the entered content or logo, and this tool does not save Wi-Fi passwords in local storage.
Can I use these QR codes commercially?
Yes. You may use the generated QR artwork in personal or commercial materials. You remain responsible for the content, destination, branding and any third-party rights.
What is error correction?
Error correction adds redundant information so a QR code can remain readable when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered. Higher levels improve tolerance but create a denser code.
Which error correction level should I use?
Medium is a practical default for most clean digital and printed uses. Choose High for harsher conditions or when using a small centered logo, then test the final artwork.
Can I add a logo?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, JPEG or WEBP logo. It is processed locally, constrained to the center and paired with High error correction. A logo still reduces scanning tolerance, so test before publishing.
Can I change the colors?
Yes. You can choose foreground and background colors. Strong contrast is essential; a dark foreground on a light background is the safest choice.
What format should I download?
Use PNG for websites, documents and simple sharing. Use SVG for print or design work because the QR modules remain vector shapes and can scale without becoming pixelated.
Can I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes. Enter the network name, security type, password and hidden-network setting. The generated code uses the standard Wi-Fi QR format supported by many phone cameras.
Can I make a WhatsApp QR code?
Yes. Enter an international WhatsApp number and an optional pre-filled message. Scanning opens the standard wa.me conversation link when WhatsApp is available.
Why is my QR code not scanning?
Check that the content is valid, increase color contrast, restore a standard quiet zone, enlarge the printed code, remove or reduce the logo, and avoid stretching or cropping the image.
How small can I print a QR code?
There is no universal minimum because scanning distance, camera quality, content density and print quality all matter. About 25 mm square is a common starting point for close-range use, but always test the final size.
