Plan Both Accumulation and Drawdown
Retirement planning has two phases. Before retirement, savings and contributions may grow. During retirement, withdrawals compete with investment growth and inflation. This calculator models both phases using your assumptions.
Are You on Track?
The projected retirement balance is compared with an estimated fund required to cover desired spending after other income through the planning age. A surplus or gap indicates the direction and scale of the modeled result.
How Much Should You Save?
The required-saving mode repeatedly runs the shared compound-growth engine to find the monthly contribution that reaches the modeled retirement fund. Employer contributions remain separate and annual contribution growth is respected.
Inflation and Retirement Income
Future nominal spending is normally higher than today's spending because prices rise. The calculator compounds your inflation assumption to retirement and also shows the projected savings balance in today's money.
Retirement Calculator FAQ
How much will I have at retirement?
The accumulation projection combines current savings, personal and employer contributions, annual contribution growth and the entered pre-retirement return.
How much should I save each month?
The calculator estimates the monthly personal contribution needed for the projected retirement balance to reach the modeled spending requirement by retirement age.
How is retirement spending estimated?
Desired spending and other income are increased with inflation to retirement. The remaining gap is modeled as level monthly withdrawals that continue through the planning age.
Does the calculator include inflation?
Yes. It shows an inflation-adjusted accumulation value and increases entered spending and other income assumptions to the retirement date.
Are pensions and taxes modeled?
You can enter expected pension or other annual income, but jurisdiction-specific pension rules, eligibility, tax and benefit indexation are not calculated.
Are investment returns guaranteed?
No. All rates are user-entered assumptions for illustration. Actual returns, fees, taxes and inflation will vary.
