Local 2D drone mapping for practical site work
Use CalcsBay to inspect embedded photo metadata, preview the capture path, run a browser-local 2D stitching workflow and move the result straight into a construction-style editor. No installation, account or raw-photo upload is required.
2D map workflow
ORB feature matching, RANSAC homographies and feathered pixel blending run locally.
Calibrated measurement
Measure distance, polylines, area and perimeter after setting a known scale.
Editable markup
Keep arrows, notes, shapes, highlights and measurement geometry as separate objects.
Local projects
Autosave in IndexedDB and download one portable `.cbmap` project file.
Supported workflow and browsers
Desktop Chrome and Edge are the primary V1 targets because they provide the most consistent worker, canvas and local-storage capabilities. Firefox and Safari receive capability-based best effort. Large datasets may exceed browser memory; start with 20–100 photos and split very large flights.
Approximate and calibrated scale
GPS and camera metadata can provide an approximate scale, but photo placement is accepted only from visual feature matches. For important planning measurements, choose two visible points with a known real distance and calibrate the project. The calibration, unit and editable measurement geometry remain stored with the project.
Current mapping limitation
CalcsBay V1 creates a general-purpose Stitched Drone Map. It does not claim terrain correction, survey-grade orthorectification, centimetre accuracy, GCP adjustment, DSM/DTM production or certified land-survey output. Real drone image stitching has been validated on an initial real-world dataset. Broader device, flight-pattern and dataset-size validation is still in progress.
Privacy by design
Filenames, GPS coordinates, EXIF metadata, thumbnails, project details and markups are not sent through CalcsBay analytics. Normal anonymous page analytics remain governed by the existing site consent configuration.
Disclaimer: Measurements and generated maps are intended for planning, estimation and general site use unless independently verified. Results should not be treated as certified land-survey data.
