How does a custom working-day calendar work?
Working days are calendar dates whose weekday is selected in the workweek and which are not listed as a custom holiday or shutdown. The same calendar can count a range or move forward and backward by a working-day amount.
How to use the Working Days Calculator
- Step 1Choose Count, Add or Subtract working days.
- Step 2Select a workweek preset or individual weekdays and enter non-working dates.
- Step 3Review the result and the separate weekday and holiday exclusions.
Formula / How it works
Working days are selected weekdays minus unique custom non-working dates that fall on those weekdays.
Example
Count a Sunday–Thursday workweek or add 20 working days while excluding a shutdown date.
Working Days Calculator FAQ
Can Saturday or Sunday be a working day?
Yes. Select any combination of weekdays or use the Monday–Saturday and Sunday–Thursday presets.
How are public holidays handled?
Enter the dates that apply to your location or organization. The tool does not rely on an incomplete hardcoded country calendar.
Is a holiday on a weekend deducted twice?
No. A holiday is deducted only when it falls on a weekday already selected as working.
