How salary tax works in Finland
Finnish wage taxation combines progressive state tax, municipality tax, optional church tax and employee insurance. Enter age, the municipality rate, church membership and qualifying children; an eligible single parent receives the modeled doubled child increase to the employment-income credit.
Income tax in Finland
The model applies the 2026 state schedule and municipal tax after the automatic wage expense and basic allowance, then subtracts the age-sensitive employment-income credit and selected child increase. Public broadcasting tax is shown separately.
Employee contributions
Employee pension, unemployment, health-care and daily-allowance contributions are itemized. The actual tax card can incorporate additional deductions, income ceilings and municipality-specific rounding not known from salary alone.
Take-home pay example
An employee aged 65 or older uses the higher modeled employment-credit maximum. Changing the municipality or adding a local church rate changes income tax without changing employee pension or unemployment insurance.

Finland salary calculator FAQ
Which Finnish municipality rate should I enter?
Use the official 2026 rate for your home municipality, or retain 7.60% as a planning value. The field does not automatically identify the municipality from an address.
How are Finnish children and single parents treated?
Each entered qualifying child adds the modeled amount to the employment-income credit, doubled for an eligible single parent. Ordinary married couples are taxed individually, so spouse income is not split.
Does this replace a Finnish tax card?
No. Vero's tax card remains the authoritative payroll instruction and can include travel, home-office, church and other personal information beyond this annual estimate.
Important financial disclaimer
This calculator estimates employee take-home pay using the information you enter and current published tax/payroll rules. Actual payroll may differ because of employer-specific benefits, tax-card settings, local rules, prior-period earnings, bonuses and other circumstances. It is not tax advice.
