How salary tax works in Sweden
Swedish salary tax is strongly local: municipality, age and membership of a tax-collecting faith community can change the result. Residents receive modeled basic and earned-income allowances, while an eligible non-resident can select the separate SINK treatment.
Income tax in Sweden
For residents, municipal tax applies after the age-sensitive basic allowance and the earned-income credit, with 20% state tax above the national threshold. The non-resident option instead applies the modeled 2026 SINK rate without ordinary resident deductions.
Employee contributions
A standard employee does not have a separate cash pension deduction in this annual model because the general pension contribution is normally offset by its tax credit. Employer charges and occupational pension contributions are not subtracted from entered gross salary.
Take-home pay example
A person aged 66 or older can receive a larger modeled basic allowance than a younger employee. Church members can enter their local fee, while a valid SINK decision replaces the ordinary resident calculation rather than adding to it.

Sweden salary calculator FAQ
Which Swedish local rate should I use?
Enter the combined municipality and region rate for your residence, or retain the 32.38% planning average. Official payroll tables also depend on parish, pay period and income type.
Can I include the Church of Sweden fee?
Yes. Enable the option and enter the local percentage. Burial and other faith-community components can vary, so the official table may not match a single entered rate exactly.
Do marriage or children lower Swedish salary tax?
They do not create ordinary joint taxation or employee income-tax allowances in this model. Family benefits are separate and are not added to take-home salary.
Important financial disclaimer
This calculator estimates employee take-home pay using the information you enter and current published tax/payroll rules. Actual payroll may differ because of employer-specific benefits, tax-card settings, local rules, prior-period earnings, bonuses and other circumstances. It is not tax advice.
