Tile layout and carton estimator
Estimate multiple tiled surfaces with opening deductions, grout-joint modules, editable layout waste, cartons, spare tiles and material cost.
Combine multiple rectangular surfaces and deduct untiled openings or excluded zones.

The layout presets only suggest planning waste. Edit the allowance for the actual room, pattern and cutting risk.
Area-based counts cannot predict every perimeter cut, niche, border, pattern repeat, shade batch or breakage. Check the setting-out and supplier carton data before ordering.
The estimate deducts excluded rectangles, divides net area by the tile-and-joint planning module, adds the editable layout allowance and then rounds up to complete cartons. Purchased area uses the actual tile face area, not the grout module.
A 5 m × 4 m floor tiled with 600 × 600 mm tiles and 3 mm joints needs about 55.0 theoretical modules. A 10% allowance gives 61 tiles; cartons of four round the order to 16 cartons or 64 tiles.
Four wall areas can be entered separately so doors, windows and untiled zones are deducted from the correct surface. A diagonal feature wall can be estimated separately with a different editable allowance if needed.
Niches, columns, borders, matching veins, pattern repeats and narrow edge cuts can materially change usage. Review the planned tile grid and keep suitable spare tiles from the same shade batch for future repairs.
Diagonal and offset layouts often create more perimeter cuts and may leave less reusable offcut material. The presets are planning assumptions only; room geometry, tile size and pattern rules should determine the final allowance.
Suppliers normally sell complete cartons. After the tile requirement is rounded to whole tiles, the calculator rounds again to complete cartons and shows the resulting purchased and spare quantities.
The planning module combines one tile with one joint in each direction. A wider joint slightly increases the covered module area, although real perimeter setting-out and cuts still require separate review.
Deduct areas that will definitely remain untiled. Keep areas that extend below removable fixtures or where project requirements call for a continuous tiled finish.
No. It produces an area-based material estimate. Centred setting-out, border widths, movement joints, pattern repeats and cut locations require a drawing or site layout.
